Marvellous International Evening (with gallery)
International Evening is a traditionally grand occasion which brings together all the 1100 international students of the Medical School, international students of other faculties of the University of Pécs.
It was the second time, that the event was organized by the English-German Student Council and the leadership of the University of Pécs Medical School in the Dr. Romhányi György Aula of the Medical School. However, the International Evening was organized before many times, but it was an event for students. This year, embassy representatives from 16 countries attended the event and insured the students of their support. In his opening speech the Rector of the University of Pécs, accentuated the importance of international cultures at the Univeristy and that events like this, are great opportunities to stop for a moment and get to know each other.
Students from several countries represented in the medical program, which numbers 24 nations, proudly hosted a variety of traditional foods as well as a small performance that catches the cultural essence of their country. Guests had the opportunity to taste original Japanese sushi as well as Canadian pancakes and many more: all served by cheery students in authentic national costumes. Beside the great atmosphere, this event offered an opportunity to get to know each other's culture better.
I would like to quote Daniel Livingston, president of the English-German Student Council: "It's a moment to enjoy, relax and smile at each other".
