The Erasmus Office held an Orientation Day on 3 February 2010 at the Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering for all exchange students including those coming through ERASMUS, Ceepus or inter-university agreements. It was a nice introduction of Hungary, Pécs and the University of Pécs.

Prof. László I. Komlósi, Rector's Representative for International Affairs held a welcome address in which he introduced the University of Pécs for the foreign students. He explained that the University has 10 faculties, one of them located in Szekszárd. Ha said that the students are lucky that they are here in Pécs in the year when Pécs is the European Capital of Culture together with Essen and Istanbul. He wished the students a very successful stay and a very good semester at the University of Pécs. Professor Komlósi expressed his hopes that the students make valuable friendships and "enjoy the blossoming of this city, blossoming of the people".

Then Ms. Judit Németh, the institutional ERASMUS coordinator held a presentation, in which she informed students about enrolment and formalities with the Immigration Office. She also introduced the faculty coordinators, her colleagues at the office and the contact persons of the Hungarian language courses. Afterwards Gergő Krupla talked about the mentors, who are Hungarian students helping the foreign students in administrative matters and whatever comes up. Mentors organize country presentation, movie nights, sightseeing tours, hiking tours and excursions. Mónika Szalai, Erasmus coordinator of the Faculty of Humanities gave an overview of the cultural programmes that they organize: guided tours, art tour and other interesting programmes.

Altogether 89 students are here this semester at the University of Pécs as guest students with Erasmus, coming from 20 countries. Out of them 44 spend the whole academic year here. This Orientation Day was a promising start, hopefully students can make the best of this time spent here and they will get to know our culture, the town Pécs and its people, fellow-students.
