Faculty of Business and Economics

szerző: Ms. Szilvia Szilágyi | 2008. március 30. 21:39:28

University-level courses in Economics were introduced here in Pécs in 1970, and so the Faculty is the second oldest Faculty of Economics in Hungary. Since then we have been a leading and proactive participant in Higher Education in the Hungarian business sphere.

Our mission is to offer state-of-the-art education in Business Sciences based on comprehensive theoretical, methodological and practical knowledge - which itself draws on the professional experience of national and international Higher Education. The Faculty was assessed “Excellent” in the national accreditation process, and, very recently, the accreditation of the new Bologna Process-derived degree programme was totally successful, both achievements demonstrating that the Faculty fully meets the requirements laid down in its mission statement.

Faculty of Business and EcomonicsThe “Pécsiközgáz” concept today means something very special - exclusive - to its former and present students and to companies and consulting firms alike. The prestige of this name reflects the outstanding level of theoretical and practical knowledge of the lecturers, the extremely high number of qualified staff, the demanding nature of the curricula, the intense relationship between students and Faculty, the rich, professional and cultural programmes offered by student organisations and also the atmosphere of the campus, the environment and of the city itself.

The Faculty devotes itself to preparing its students for making their way in their business life and for achieving and maintaining high-level, responsible positions in business. It offers:

  • Bachelor-level programmes in Economics, Business Administration (in both Hungarian and English), in Economics-related Information Technology, in Marketing and in Finance
  • Master-level programmes in Business Administration (also in English), Marketing and Finance
  • PhD programmes in Regional Studies and Business Administration (also in English)
  • Short training programmes in various fields for companies (since the Faculty believes that its mission is also to fulfil the demands of the corporate sphere in the context of lifelong learning.

Our international links are especially active through:

  • EU programmes (such as ERASMUS) and
  • Various bilateral relations with European and North American universities

Faculty of Business and EconomicsStudent and staff mobility have been a distinctive feature of our life for many years. In respect of our professional and scientific reputation in general, in late-2007 the Faculty of Business and Economics was awarded first place, by the leading Hungarian Business and Economics related Journal – HVG, as the most significant Institution of Higher Education in Economics, and second place in terms of the value of our degree in the eyes of corporate employers.

The Faculty also features in the Official Selection of EDUNIVERSAL amongst the world’s top 1,000 Business Schools.

In other words: “Pécsiközgáz” – where your career begins!
