His Excellency Chung-ha Suh, ambassador of the Korean Republic in Budapest gave a generous gift of 83 Korean books to the University of Pécs. During his visit to Pécs the ambassador also greeted the 56 Korean students at the Medical Preparatory course.

Róbert Gábriel rector greeted the South Korean ambassador, Chung-ha Suh and the first secretary, Young Sup Kwon. "Korean is not the most well-known eastern culture in Hungary, therefore it would be very important to inform our country of the cultural and scientific achievements of Korea" - emphasized the rector. There are plenty of fields where cooperation would be prospering, e.g. science and research. "I am very glad that the University of Pécs welcomes more and more Korean students. One of the most important aims of a university is to include and to accept foreign cultures and achievements at the field of science" - said Róbert Gábriel. He expressed his gratitude to the ambassador for the generous gift.
Chung-ha Suh ambassador greeted the audience and said that he is very happy that the more than 20 year old diplomatic relationship between South Korea and Hungary has been improving. He emphasized the importance of economic, cultural, scientific relationships and expressed his hope that "with this gift of books he will spread the seeds of growing interest for Korean culture, which he will augment year by year." The ambassador would like to facilitate the growing interest in Korea with further gifts and mobility programmes for professors and students. He hopes that Pécs will be a centre for Hungarian-South-Korean relationships.

The ambassador gave 3 books symbolising all the 83 books to Tamás Markó, deputy-director of information technology at the University Library, who thanked for the valuable collection. Tamás Markó said that the library will keep this special collection together, which will be available to the readers: "We hope that there will be more and more students who will be able to read these books."

After presenting the books ambassador Chung-ha Suh visited the Korean students who are studying here at the University of Pécs at the Medical Preparatory Programme. All the students are very hard-working, enthusiastic, it is very important for them to be able to become doctors.
